The Power of Storytelling
Documentary and Lifestyle Photography in Everyday Life
Storytelling in Photography is something that makes my heart singing! While I was doing only portraiture work, I was neglecting this genre of photography that I love so much. Documentary Family Photo Session is the type of photography where photographers give themselves a freedom to capture all the amazing moments we sometimes take for granted in our busy lives. It’s ideal for all those families who truly want to capture the memories, instead of being occupied with uncomfortable posing.
A few days ago, I was photographing my good friend and her family. I know her husband since my elementary school and she is my friend since my high-school. The funny fact about them is that they were dating in a high school. Back then, they separated in not such a great terms, and then, 17 years later they got back together in the most unexpected circumstances. In fact, that night, I was the anchor who connected them again after so many years. I remember that night, me and my friend were joking: “This summer is promising”! Not only it was promising…something that was an innocent flirt between them after 17 years of not seeing each other turned out to be one of the most beautiful love stories I ever have seen.
Today, they are married, have the most adorable son and they are expecting a new baby 🙂
The funny thing is that I never really photographed them until this moment. Since they are very laid back people and since we are close friends, we did the documentary type of photo shoot. No fake posing for a camera. I was capturing A day in a Life of my dear friends. And boy…I enjoyed so much!
When I arrived, little Philip had his afternoon nap 🙂
And then, the action started 🙂
Philip’s fascination with the Moon and airplanes is absolutely adorable! He didn’t miss even one airplane that was passing by…
Did I mention how much I adore their backyard? I could sit there for hours…which I do with my son in summertime 🙂
At this point, it was a late afternoon. We left little Phillip to play with his grandma and hit the road. All 3 of us adore river and canal, so naturally, we went outside of our hometown Sombor to chill in nature.
